Atissanan Sankul
Atissanan Sankul was born in Sukhothai, Thailand, where a quiet, historically rooted environment shaped her early sense of observation. She began drawing at the age of six, developing a natural connection to image-making long before formal training.
As a teenager, her time in Bangkok introduced a different pace and complexity, a contrast that continues to influence her work. The balance between stillness and movement, distance and presence, remains central to how she sees and paints.
She later graduated with a degree in Painting and Printmaking from the Chiang Mai University Faculty of Fine Arts, where she refined her technical foundation.
Her paintings explore identity through subtle tension rather than direct narrative. Figures often appear composed yet emotionally guarded, suggesting something beneath the surface without fully revealing it. Themes of concealment, perception, and internal experience run consistently through her work.
