The House of Masks presents a richly imagined world where every figure plays a role, yet each quietly searches for something deeper. Set within an intimate restaurant inspired by Thai culture, the painting invites viewers to move through the scene, discovering moments of reflection, curiosity, and shared experience.

Rather than offering a single interpretation, the work encourages contemplation. Each character, object, and interaction carries symbolic meaning, allowing the viewer to return again and again, uncovering new relationships within the composition.

This painting marks the beginning of Atissanan Sankul’s Who Truly Are You? series, exploring identity, spirituality, and the quiet journey toward understanding oneself through the people we encounter and the roles we inhabit.

The House of Masks is one of Atissanan Sankul’s most ambitious works to date. Measuring 24 × 48 inches and developed over more than 200 hours, the painting contains dozens of individually considered figures, symbolic details, and layered narratives that reveal themselves over time.
